The Dragon Ball legend many imagined as children is becoming reality in LEGO bricks.
LEGO has unveiled LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku (11390), a new building set for adults based on the popular Japanese anime Dragon Ball. It will officially launch on November 4.
Made up of 1,764 bricks, the set recreates the summoning of the legendary dragon Shenron after all seven Dragon Balls are collected. It brings young Goku and his Flying Nimbus together in a single three-dimensional display piece.

Seven Dragon Balls and Shenron
In Dragon Ball, which began as a manga by Akira Toriyama in 1984, Shenron is a legendary being who appears when all seven Dragon Balls are gathered. The character symbolizes the journey to have a wish granted.
The new LEGO set is designed around Shenron appearing to soar into the sky, with his enormous body spiraling through the air in a three-dimensional structure distinctive to bricks.

Vivid green scales, a beige underside, red eyes, long whiskers, split horns and sharp claws are the key details that make Shenron recognizable from the original work.
Repeating curved bricks and joints along the body convey organic movement in rigid plastic while retaining the sculptural appeal of a brick-built model.
The head and claws can also be adjusted, allowing Shenron's pose to be changed after the model is complete.

Young Goku Comes Face to Face With Shenron
Another highlight of the set is a young Goku minifigure riding the Flying Nimbus.
His orange gi, Power Pole, black hair and tail capture the character's early Dragon Ball look. He appears perched atop a yellow Flying Nimbus.
Goku's small size against Shenron's enormous body visually emphasizes the relationship between the two characters in the anime while evoking the series' adventurous spirit.
The Goku minifigure can be removed and repositioned, and the Flying Nimbus can be adjusted too, allowing the set to be displayed in various arrangements.

Details in the Seven Dragon Balls
Below Shenron sit the seven Dragon Balls that symbolize the series.
Each Dragon Ball bears one to seven red stars. Clear supports make them appear to float slightly above the base.
Translucent yellow bricks placed around them depict lightning and energy, visually completing the tension of the moment Shenron is summoned.
A Dragon Ball logo in blue and red on the front of the black circular base gives the model the finish of a standalone display piece.

More Than a Build: A Display Piece
The completed Shenron stands approximately 32cm high, measures 24cm long and is at least 26cm wide, giving it a noticeable presence on a desk or shelf.
With Shenron at the center, Goku, the Dragon Balls and energy effects come together in a single sculpture that conveys the atmosphere of the original work without a separate diorama.
Lifestyle images released by LEGO also show the set displayed on bookshelves and tables, suggesting its potential both as a collectible for Dragon Ball fans and as a decorative object.
