Korean ginseng has met the trail running shoe.
Kasina, a select shop known for its place in Korea’s street fashion scene, will release a new trail running shoe made in collaboration with adidas TERREX, the “adidas TERREX AGRAVIC SL by KASINA,” on October 23.
The collaboration began with ginseng, long regarded as a symbol of vitality in Korean nature and culture. Kasina connected the resilience of ginseng, which grows by putting down deep roots, with the movement of runners across rugged terrain.
A New Story Found in Korean Culture
Korean themes are nothing new in Kasina’s collaborations.
From National Route 1 and mandarin ducks to Seoul at night and Busan, Kasina has linked symbols found in Korean daily life and culture with products from global brands. This time, rather than looking far afield for inspiration, it turned to a familiar element of nature.
That element is ginseng. Its vitality—developed over years of rooting underground and enduring harsh conditions—became a central theme of the collaboration.
Kasina and adidas TERREX saw a parallel between those qualities and the movement of trail runners who keep going across uneven terrain.

The AGRAVIC SL, the model behind the collaboration, is an all-round shoe combining the lively propulsion of a road running shoe with the stability of a trail running shoe. Its construction helps the foot roll smoothly through each stride, while its design supports stable landings even on uneven ground.
Kasina linked these features to the image of ginseng putting down deep roots and building vitality over time, adding a story drawn from Korean nature to a functional running shoe.
The People Who Roam the Mountains in Search of Ginseng
Kasina’s accompanying “RUN DEEP” project brings the collaboration’s story into sharper focus.
The project’s message is “It’s not how far you run, but how deeply you immerse yourself.” It views running as more than an activity measured by distance and speed: a way to fully experience nature and your own movement.
To express this message, Kasina placed ginseng gatherers who search the mountains at the center of its editorial, combining images of the gatherers and Korean landscapes with contemporary outdoor fashion.
Technological elements—a performance watch that records movement, a smart ring that detects the body’s rhythms, and headphones that connect moments of breathing and footfalls—offer a link between nature and the modern running experience.
The approach reflects Kasina’s effort to connect the meaning of a traditional subject to movement today, rather than using it merely as decoration.
Sneakers with Another Korean Story to Tell
The collaboration, which brings Kasina’s fresh perspective to the familiar subject of ginseng, launches Friday, October 23, at the Kasina online store and its Dosan, Seongsu and Jeonpo stores in Busan. The price is 219,000 won.
To mark the launch, customers who purchase first will randomly receive either a limited-edition T-shirt bearing the “RUN DEEP” project’s message or an air freshener. The offer ends when supplies run out.
Having found new stories in Korean nature and culture, Kasina has once again taken a familiar subject—this time ginseng—and interpreted it in its own way, completing a collaboration that looks at the familiar from a new perspective.
