Seungri Is Already Married…Set to Become a Father in Early 2027

Marriage registered with wife in her 20s who is not a celebrity

Seungri, 36, a former member of BIGBANG whose real name is Lee Seung-hyun, has personally confirmed that he is married.

In an interview with Ilgan Sports on the 28th, Seungri said he and a woman in her 20s who is not a celebrity had already registered their marriage and are legally married. His wife is pregnant and due to give birth in early 2027.

On the 27th, online outlet Gray News reported that Seungri and his girlfriend, a woman in her 20s who is not a celebrity, were expecting a baby next January. The outlet also said the couple had set up a newlywed home in Seoul’s Gangnam district and planned to hold a wedding after the birth.

Denies marrying because of pregnancy, says no wedding ceremony planned

Seungri also addressed claims that the couple had married because of the pregnancy, which arose after news of the expected birth emerged before their marriage became public.

He emphasized that he and his wife are legally married and denied that they had married because of the pregnancy. Contrary to reports that they would hold a wedding after the birth, he said they are not currently considering a separate ceremony.

The exact dates of the marriage registration and the pregnancy have not been disclosed.

A statement as he begins a new family life

In announcing his marriage, Seungri also reflected on his past wrongdoing and spoke about how he intends to live going forward.

He said he feels a greater sense of responsibility now that he has a family to care for, and that he regrets the disappointment and hurt caused by his past wrongdoing. He added that he hopes to show he has changed by living a quiet, diligent life.

Noting that his wife and family are not public figures, he also asked people to refrain from excessive attention and speculation about them.

Seungri debuted as a member of BIGBANG in 2006, but left the group and retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 after becoming embroiled in the Burning Sun scandal.

He was later put on trial on nine charges, including arranging prostitution and habitual gambling. In 2022, the Supreme Court upheld his sentence of one year and six months in prison. He was released in February 2023 after serving his sentence. Reports later emerged that he was considering new business ventures overseas, including in Southeast Asia.
