Godiva Mochi Switches to Online Reservations After Overnight Queues

Same-day reservations via Catchtable: 12 varieties, prices and how to buy

Godiva Mochi, which drew attention for queues that began the night before the store opened, switched to online reservations on October 29.

At Jamsil’s Lotte World Mall, customers had been arriving the night before to wait for Godiva Mochi, and spots in the queue were repeatedly filled by early morning. To improve customer safety and make purchases smoother, Godiva Korea replaced the in-person queue with advance online reservations through Catchtable.

The Jamsil Lotte World Mall store is currently the only place in South Korea selling Godiva Mochi. Limited production and concentrated demand have led to long queues from early in the day.

Chocolate and glutinous rice cakes: 12 mochi varieties

Godiva Mochi pairs chewy glutinous rice cake with fillings centered on the brand’s signature chocolate ganache, alongside fresh fruit, almond praline or gelato. Unlike its conventional chocolate products, it brings together the distinctive texture of glutinous rice cake and a range of fillings.

Cut a round mochi in half and layers of chocolate, fruit or almond praline appear inside the glutinous rice cake. The flavor and appearance vary not only with the type of chocolate but also with the ingredients paired with it.

The range comprises five fresh fruit mochi, three praline mochi and four gelato mochi, priced from 7,500 to 9,000 won each.

Fresh fruit mochi (8,500 won) pair chocolate ganache with ingredients such as strawberries, bananas and tangerines. The five options are dark chocolate with strawberry or banana, matcha chocolate with strawberry or chestnut, and white chocolate with tangerine.

Praline mochi (7,500 won) add almond praline to chocolate ganache, with a choice of dark, white or matcha chocolate. While the fresh fruit mochi emphasize the pairing of chocolate and fruit, praline mochi feature the texture of nuts.

Gelato mochi (9,000 won) use cold gelato instead of chocolate ganache. Four options are available, pairing either dark or white chocolate gelato with strawberry or banana.

Those who want chocolate with fruit can choose fresh fruit mochi, while those who prefer the texture of almond praline can opt for praline mochi. Gelato mochi stand apart from the other two types because they use a cold filling.

Reservations open at 10 a.m.; maximum of four per person

Under the new system, Catchtable opens reservations at 10 a.m. each day for same-day visits only. Customers can search for “Godiva Lotte World Mall” and choose a slot at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.

Reservations are limited to one person per mobile phone number, and customers cannot select overlapping time slots. Those who have completed a reservation must visit the store at their designated time, show the reservation details they received via KakaoTalk, and then place and pay for their orders in turn.

Purchases are limited to four items per person, but a successful reservation does not guarantee that customers can buy the products they want. During busy periods, there may be an additional wait of about 30 minutes to an hour before ordering, and some menu items may sell out first.

Reservations are automatically canceled if customers do not arrive within 30 minutes of their reserved time. If you choose the earliest slot, 10:30 a.m., be sure to wait near the store beforehand so you do not lose your reservation.

If you plan to buy Godiva mochi, check the same-day reservations when they open at 10 a.m., and confirm your visit time, purchase limit and the possibility of items selling out in advance.
